Exhibition "Children's Philately" in PTT Museum, May 12, 2021

With the exhibition "Children's Philately", created in cooperation with the Association for Culture, Arts and International Cooperation “Adligat Society”, the PTT Museum and the Post of Serbia have joined the event “Museums for 10”, which takes place from May 12 to May 18 throughout Serbia, as well as marking of the International Museum Day, European Museum Night and National Museum Week. The exhibition was opened at the PTT Museum by the Acting Director of PE Post of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević.
The Post of Serbia and the Association for Culture, Arts and International Cooperation “Adligat Society” presented the original exhibition dedicated to the youngest - “Children''s Philately” - to the public for the first time in the PTT Museum. The valuable collection assembled over the period of three decades shows more than 600 postage stamps and 200 blocks from all over the world, with unusual, charming, educative, and in other ways curious depictions of scenes and heroes from real life, realm of imagination and cartoons, interesting especially for children, but adults as well.
“Post of Serbia will be especially engaged in bringing philately closer to the youngest and motivating them to acquire various knowledge through dealing with philately, as well as to develop their awareness of the artistic value of miniatures such as postage stamps. The value of philately in one country is that it represents a symbol of time and state, and is something that remains for all future generations”, said the Acting Director, Đorđević. He added that the Post of Serbia, in cooperation with the Adligat Society, is launching a broader campaign and is planning numerous activities to promote philately among the youngest.
“In order to bring philately closer to children, stamps were spontaneously created with themes and designs that make them especially interesting for the youngsters, primarily with motifs from fairy tales and cartoons. Far from the fact that these stamps are interesting only to children - these are often top works of art, often even more beautiful and interesting than the usual philately to most people, especially curious ones, and even philatelists. The Adligat Society’s Book and Travel Museum houses the largest collection of these stamps, and we are showing the most important part of this collection at the PTT Museum exhibition”, says Viktor Lazić, Director of the PTT Museum and founder of the Adligat Society.
The exhibition “Children''s Philately” in the PTT Museum (13 Majke Jevrosime St.) is open to the public until June 12, and during the event Museums for 10, in the period until May 18 – it shall be open on working days and on Sunday, May 16 - from 10am to 6 pm, with expert guidance through the said exhibition and the permanent exhibition at 5 pm.
