Library
Library of the PTT museum was founded in 1958. It has a fund of several thousand monographs, professional and serial publications. The fund primarily consists of technical literature in the field of postal traffic, technological regulations, instructions, projects, works from the history of the Post, telegraph and telephone, books on philately, a large number of newspapers and magazines, as well as all special issues of the museum.
The fund is based on the former Library of the Ministry of Post and Telegraph from the period in between the wars. Books and magazines arrived to the library as objects of exchange with the postal administrations of member countries of the Universal Postal Union and the International Telegraph Union.
Library received literature from the scholars of Kingdom of Serbia and Kingdom of Yugoslavia, educated abroad - in Austria, France, Belgium, Germany and Russia.
After the World War II, library has filled its fund in the same way, through the exchange with the postal administrations, inter-museum and interlibrary exchanges, through the work of the Community of Yugoslav post office, telegraph and telephone and by taking over releases of PTT printing house.
The oldest edition is bound annual edition of "The Serbian Secretary" from 1802.
The value of the fund is increased by the magazine Postal, telegraph and telephone herald which was first printed in 1889, as the official list of Postal and telegraph department of the Ministry of National Economy. The magazine was published, with short breaks, during the First and Second World War, until 2002.
Library also possesses official newspapers from the area of PTT traffic, printed in Vienna and Budapest, and a large number of directories, and the oldest one is "List of telephone subscribers" from 1912.
Library of the PTT museum is specialized and as such is a closed type library. The library fund is intended for everyone involved in studying the development of techniques, technology and history of the postal, telegraph and telephone traffic.
