PTT museum takes part in the "Museums of Serbia, ten days from 10 to 10" cultural event

PTT museum will take part in the „Museums of Serbia, ten days from 10 to 10” cultural event which takes place from 9-18 May and which marks the Day of Victory over Fascism, the European Night of Museums and the International Museum Day.
It is about the biggest museum initiative at the national level so far, with the view to establishing a better communication both between museums themselves and between museums and the museum audience who will be able to enjoy for free the planned programmes during the all ten days of the event, from 10 in the morning to 10 in the evening.
Visitors may see the thematic exhibition „160th Anniversary of the introduction of Telegraph Traffic in Serbia” and pass trough the history of telegraphy starting with the Morse telegraph station, along with Hughes’ and Baudot’s telegraph, with reference to written documents from the earliest history of telegraphy, as well as the permanent exhibition „Meeting Point”, chronological review of the development of the post and telecommunications on the territory of Serbia since the First Serbian Uprising until today, with the exhibits from these fields (telegraphs, teleprinters, typewriters, scales, postal carriage, photographs and original documents.
Every day during this event visitors may take a photo and have it applied as a stamp on post cards they will get as souvenirs, while the professional guidance through the permanent exhibition is organized at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the professional guidance through the thematic exhibition is at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Special programmes for visitors are prepared: Saturday, 9 May : from noon to 1 p.m. children’s workshop „Write and send a letter to the beloved ones”; Tuesday, 12 May : from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. the conservator will give a lecture „Methods of perserving of cultural heritage” (lecturers conservators Željko Levnaić from „Production 64” and Saša Živić from Belgrade City Museum); Thursday, 14 May : from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m. a lecture „Protection of cultural heritage in libraries” (lecturer Gorica Škipina, librarian at the protection of cultural property from the National Library of Serbia); Saturday, 16 May , the European Night of Museums: a special concert of the choir of the artistic assosiation „Đoka Pavlović” from 9 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.; giving special gifts to every hunderedth and every thousandth visitor; Monday, 18 May , the International Museum Day: from 7 p.m. - 8 p.m lecture „How to make a postal stamp” (lecturer Aleksandar Despotović from „Post of Serbia“).
The visits to all the events at PTT museum are free.
